Back in Oct. Monica announced to all of her followers that she was leaving Twitter for the safety of her family and herself. She said:
Hey there. I want to thank all of u who have been so supportive of myself & family for so many years. I hate to say this but I will no longer be on twitter. I love the fact that I am able to speak to my REAL supporters but it has also become a way for people to do malicious things, when my sole intent was to spread positivity. I love u guys dearly and will find ways to stay in touch. I have dear friends on twitter & team Monica will make sure u have all information on dates etc. Again I love u guys. But this is better for the protection of my children, my family, fiancé and fans. Too much is being said that I didn’t say and for a person that believes so strongly in being 100 at ALL times. I just can’t do it. I will see all of u guys very soon. I LOVE U …Take care
She didn’t get into detail about what she really meant by “protection of my children, my family, fiancé and fans.” I was really curious to know because those words led me to believe it was something serious. She now explains that she’s had a stalker for 6 years that was recently arrested!!
Keep reading to find out the details on her stalker…
In an interview on “The Big Tigger Morning Show” she explained why she left Twitter saying, “I quit Twitter for a way deeper reason…. At first we couldn’t really talk about it, but we had a way more serious situation than just somebody saying something on Twitter. And legally we couldn’t really talk about it at the time. It was just suggested. OK, come off Twitter, find out who some of these people are… It was not anybody on Twitter. It was someone keeping up with me through Twitter.”
Monica went on to say that the stalker had been stalking her years before Twitter but was using Twitter to keep up with her whereabouts.
“Some people thought it was something that someone said to me on Twitter,” explained Monica. “It was absolutely nothing like that. People have talked about and been cruel toward me and ever other artist long before Twitter came about, so it would never be something as simple as something that somebody said.”
She’s back to tweeting now.
Be careful what you post on Twitter folks! It’s crazy people out here!
