Some people have to learn what you can and can’t say over the airwaves. DJ Cipha Sounds is learning the hard way. He has been suspended from Hot 97 where he was co-host for “Cipha Sounds and Paul Rosenburg Morning Show” for some comments he made about Haitians. His exact words were “The reason I’m H-I-V negative is because I don’t mess with Haitian girls” SMH
He is now being forced to take “sensitivity training” focused on the serious nature of HIV/AIDS and the Haitian community. Serves him right.
“Cipha made an immediate public apology and recognizes his insensitivity and the negative impact his comments have on all Haitians,” said Alex Cameron, SVP/Market Manager of Emmis-New York. “The Haitian community is an important part of our listenership whom we respect and value. The suspension is an indication of the importance we place on delivering a product that respects our Haitian audience.”
DJ Cipha Soounds just tweeted this an hour ago (8am-ish):
DAM, I HAVENT BEEN HOME AT THIS HOUR IN 7 YEARS… WHAT DO I DO?? I GUESS I’LL JUST WISH EVERYONE A HAPPY HOLIDAY & COUNT UR BLESSINGS…I JUST WANNA SAY THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE SHOWING ME LOVE AND SUPPORT IT IS OVERWHELMING AND I AM TRULY GRATEFUL….
Why would he say something like that in the first place though?? Your thoughts?
