After and long and ugly fight in court against his ex-wife Siohvaughn Wade, a Chicago court has granted Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade sole custody of his two sons, ages 8 and 3. The boys arrived in Miami on Friday, shortly after the ruling was filed.
Wade told reporters, “My life changed in a huge way. Mentally, I’ve been preparing for it for over a year now. To me, it’s bigger than that. For me, it shows a lot of people that you need to fight to be in your kids’ lives sometimes. You fight until you can’t fight any more. That’s all I was trying to be, a father in his kids’ lives.”
His ex-wife Siohvaughn Wade who was accused of physically abusing the children is extremely upset with the ruling.
“Unfortunately I think the court got it wrong and it’s not in the best interest of these children and fails to recognize that Siohvaughn Wade has been a wonderful mother and a provider for these children, educationally, emotionally and physically. Mr. Wade, while well-intentioned, just does not have the ability to parent these children.
Siohvaughn Wade is “extremely disappointed. She’s in disbelief. She’s hurting for her children.”
I’m happy to see a man step up to the plate to be a father to his kids but at the same time, I feel bad that she had to lose her children. I hope they can work this out for the sake of the kids.
