Wyclef Jean was shot in the hand last night while in Haiti supporting presidential candidate Michel Martelly. Apparently someone is pissed at Wyclef because a bullet grazed his hand as he stepped out of a car to make a call on his cell phone.
“The way I can explain it is that the bullet grazed me in my right hand,” Jean told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. “I heard blow, blow, blow and I just looked at my hand.”
Joe Mignon, a senior program director for Wyclef’s Yele Foundation and Wyclef’s brother Samual Jean, confirmed Wyclef was shot in the hand in Delmas, Haiti around 11 p.m. local time.
Wyclef was treated at a local hospital discharged. Wyclef said he was taking antibiotics and recovering at an “undisclosed location” before going out to vote in Sunday’s presidential election.
