Everyone was up in arms after hearing LeBron James’ post-game interview after losing the NBA championship to the Dallas Mavericks. LeBron was asked to respond to all the “haters” who wanted him to fail and he responded with, “all the people that (were) rooting on me to fail, at the end of the day, they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today. They have the same personal problems they had today.”
LeBron now says his comment was misinterpreted. After the teams’ end-of-season meetings he cleared up his quote saying:
“Basically, I was saying, at the end of the day, this season is over. And with all the hatred, not only myself but everybody else has to move on with their lives as well. They have to move on with their lives, their day-to-day, the good or bad. And I do, too, at the end of the day. I got to move on with my life.”
“It wasn’t saying I’m superior or better than anyone else, any other man or woman on this planet, I’m not,” James told reporters. “I would never, ever look at myself bigger than any of you guys sitting here, or anybody who watched our game, or anybody who would look at me as a professional basketball player. I’m not superior over anyone.”
“It may have come off wrong, but that wasn’t my intent at all.”
“It was interpreted different than what I wanted…Everyone has to move on with their lives and I do, too.”
Do you believe him? I do. Although I was rooting for the Mavericks, I actually like LeBron and I don’t think he said anything wrong. I mean what was he suppose to say??
