Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment on yesterday (July 23rd).
27 year-old Amy has struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for several years going in and out of rehab, but her death is currently being ruled as “unexplained.”
The Metropolitan Police released a press release saying:
“Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.
On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.” [source] [Check out Amy Winehouse's last public appearance here]
According to TMZ, sources connected with the Amy Winehouse death investigation say aramedics found “signs of life” when they arrived Saturday afternoon, but she died before they could transport her.
Amy Winehouse’s mother Janis Winehouse told The Daily Mirror that she knew Amy’s death was “only a matter of time” She said she saw Amy the day before and ”she seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn’t hit me.” She said that Amy told her she loved her when they parted ways on Friday, “They are the words I will always treasure … I’m glad I saw her when I did.”
Amy Winehouse was a multi-Grammy award winning artist. She was signed to Island Def Jam where she released Back to Black in 2006, which is one of the label’s most successful albums to date. Her single “Rehab” went straight to the top of the charts providing her international star status.
