Lucky for Chad “Ochocinco” Patriots second-year tight end Aaron Hernandez, who wore #85 last season, GAVE Chad #85 for this season. Aaron was wearing #81 while Chad was wearing #85 at the team’s afternoon practice session on Friday, July 29th.
Giving Chad #85 was probably not that big of a deal for Aaron. He actually wore #81 playing college ball in Florida, but when he got to the Patriots, Randy Moss was already playing with #81. Now…normally when a veteran player joins a new team he offers SOMETHING to get their chosen number (whether it be money, jewelry, dinner, etc.) but it’s unclear what or if he gave Aaron anything for his jersey number.
Chad probably will give Aaron something…if not, it doesn’t seem like Aaron would really care anyway being that he was able to get his original number.
