After about nine hours of deliberations, the jury (consisting of 5 women and 7 men) found Dr. Conrad Murray guilty of manslaughter in the death of pop king Michael Jackson. jurors delivered the guilty verdict Monday in the downtown Los Angeles courthouse.
Murray was handcuffed following the verdict and was taken into custody with no possibility of bail. 58-year-old Murray was charged with the lowest possible homicide offense and he only faces a maximum sentence of 4 years in a state prison and a minimum sentence of probation.
He will be sentenced November 29th.
His parents, Katherine & Joe Jackson, released this statement shortly after the verdict: We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time and we couldn’t hold back tears of joy in the courtroom. Even though nothing can bring back our son, justice has finally been served! We can’t wait to go home and share this day with Michael’s children.”
