M.I.A. took advantage of the estimated 114 million people (higher average than the game itself) watching the Super Bowl Halftime Show where she performed with Madonna and Nicki Minaj. M.I.A. decided to pull her own publicity stunt, throwing up her middle finger during the performance. Kinda works for her being that she has a new album coming out and now we’re all talking about it.

But then again…NOT so great for her because if the FCC fines NBC, the $$$ is coming straight from her bank account!

The NFL has learned a thing or two since Janet Jackson’s big nipplegate fiasco. Now, the NFL makes performers sign contracts stating they will have to bite the bullet if the FCC fines them for their performance.

According to TMZ:

M.I.A. signed a contract with the NFL for the halftime performance, and in that contract M.I.A. agreed to indemnify the NFL for any money it might be forced to pay if the FCC comes down on the Peacock Network.

Remember, CBS was hit with a $550,000 FCC fine after Janet Jackson’s famouswardrobe malfunction, but that fine was thrown out by a federal appeals court.

Well damn. Guess M.I.A. just didn’t care.
