There are reports that there may be a new Aaliyah album in the works for all you Aaliyah fans, myself included.
Jeffery “J. Dub” Walker, who crafted “I Refuse” and “What If” for the singer’s final studio album, 2001′s Aaliyah, tweeted Monday that a posthumous album composed entirely of previously unreleased material is in the works. Walker’s tweet has since been taken down.
J-Dub tweeted, “Just got great news today; the smash unreleased song called ‘Steady Ground’ I produced on #Aaliyah is gonna be on her upcoming album.”
Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad, took to his Twitter tweeting, “Statement: there is no official album being released and supported by the Haughton family.”
Hmm…so I don’t know. Maybe Rashad didn’t get the memo yet? Time will tell.
Aaliyah’s self-titled third studio album was released just a month before her tragic death in a plane crash in the Bahamas on August 25, 2001.
