Yesterday, 2 Chainz (aka Tity Boi) was arrested in New York’s LaGuardia Airport after TSA officials found, what they describe as, a pair of “brass knuckles” in his carry-on bag.
Turns out, it was just a four finger ring!
Keep reading for the deets…
2 Chainz (born Tauheed Epps) was arrested at 1:45 p.m. EST after his four-finger ring sounded the alarm when his carry-on bag was scanned. 2 Chainz was charged with misdemeanor possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
“It was just a negative dilemma earlier where someone misconstrued a piece of jewelry for a weapon and stuff,” 2 Chainz tells MTV News.
He added, “I do exclusive pieces. My pieces are actual conversation pieces, like, literally. When you see my gold, when you see my stuff, it’s something to conversate about. People weren’t doing four-finger rings and all that. I just like to set myself apart, so I definitely wasn’t trying to beat nobody up on the airplane or nothing.”
2 Chainz was headed to Raleigh, North Carolina for a show. He eventually pleaded guilty to a lesser, unspecified charge BUT he never got all of his belongings back!
“Yeah, they took it from me, they took the Louis [Vuitton] case that I actually keep the jewelry in, they took that. I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “Me just trying to explain it was getting too frustrating, me just trying to explain my occupation and then when they finally got to the jail and everybody knew who I was, then they started calling their kids and putting me on the phone with their kids. It was like a weird experience.”
He was later released and made it in time for his show. LOL Somebody smack those TSA officals though.
How do you confuse a four-finger ring for brass knuckles??
2 Chainz released the visuals to “Undastatment,” which is featured on his breakout mixtape T.R.U. REALigion. His debut album Based On A T.R.U. Storyis scheduled to drop Aug. 14th.
