Prosecutors have released half a dozen jailhouse phone calls from George Zimmerman to his wife Shellie Zimmerman that show she knew the couple had access to $135,000 from a legal defense fund, despite her testimony at a bail hearing that the couple was broke.

The recordings, made public Monday, could play a crucial role in Zimmerman’s second bond hearing next week.

Zimmerman was released on $150,000 bond in April, several days after the jailhouse calls. At his bond hearing, Shellie, testified that she didn’t know how much money had been raised from a website created for his legal defense and that the couple had no money to pay Zimmerman’s high bail. They LIED about being broke!

However, prosecutors say the calls show they knew that roughly $135,000 had been raised by the site. Shellie Zimmerman was arrested last week on a charge of making a false statement. Phone call records, along with bank statements proved she knew what they had collected.

In the calls, George is telling Shellie that she needs to buy a bulletproof vests for them and for his attorney. He also made jokes about wearing a hoodie to help him hide his face as he slipped out of jail after he posted bail. SMH

In another call, Zimmerman tells his wife and sister how to change a computer password at a credit union so they can move funds around.

In yet another call, Shellie told her husband that the website had crashed because of supporters leaving words of support, as well as donations. “Wow, that is awesome,” Zimmerman said. “Those people need to start vocalizing themselves.” 

The audio tapes, are made whenever an inmate at the Seminole County Jail places a call. The six recordings made public by State Attorney Angela Corey, show Zimmerman and his wife tried to speak in code in an attempt to conceal their discussion about finances. Referring to the Pay Pal account that collected the donations as “Peter Pan.” #FAIL
