The homeless man who’s face was ripped off in a crazed attack by another man in Miami is now “awake and alert,” according to doctors at the Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center.
A photo of the homeless man (Ronald Poppo) was shown to reporters Tuesday showing him walking down a hospital hallway, being supported by hospital staff on both sides of him.

The photo showed the upper two-thirds of Poppo’s face covered in scabs. He’s missing his nose and both eye sockets were covered, one with gauze and one with what appeared to be a skin graft. His gray beard was trimmed, leaving a mustache over his upper lip.
Poppo was attacked on May 26th by 31-year-old Rudy Eugene who horrifically chewed his face off! Once police arrived, they were unable to get Eugene to stop attacking Poppo so he was shot and killed on the scene.
There have been reports that Eugene may have been on “bath salts” which caused him to flip out. Yikes!
According to the autopsy report, though, Eugene chewed but he didn’t swallow:
Eugene had no human flesh in his stomach jibes with the crime-scene investigation, which found chunks of Poppo’s flesh on the ground, as if they had been spit out. The autopsy also revealed human flesh lodged between the teeth of Eugene, who did not have his two top front teeth, the law enforcement source said. Eugene is known to have lost his two front teeth in an accident as a child.
