Looks like the I.R.S. has claimed another “victim” in eight-time Grammy award winning singer Lauryn Hill who pleaded guilty Friday (June 29th) to not paying federal taxes on more than $1.5 million earned over three years.
Find out the details after the cut:
She appeared in a U.S. District Court in Newark, N.J. and admitted that she intentionally failed to file tax returns from 2005 to 2007. Now she faces a maximum one-year sentence on each of the three counts, 3 years in the clink! In addition to the fed time, Ms. Hill could be hit with fines up to $75,000.
L-Boogie was charged earlier this month with failing to file income in 2005, 2006 and 2007. She was released on a $150,000 bail. Her sentencing is scheduled for late November to give her time to make payments.
We can only HOPE that she is able to meet the deadline in four months.
